Step 1: Check your company name

Type your name into the search box above. It checks the Companies House register in real time, so if it says available, it is. Your name must end in Limited or Ltd, and a few words need permission before you can use them.

If your first choice is taken, keep trying until one is free. Then check the matching .co.uk or .com domain, because every package includes one free for the first year.

Step 3: Pay and get your login

Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, with no account to set up first. As soon as you’ve paid, you get an email confirming your Online Company Manager account and your login, where your company lives from here on: documents, filings, renewals and support, all in one place.

Step 4: Enter your details and verify your ID

Add your registered office, directors, shareholders and people with significant control.

Then verify your identity. It’s now a legal requirement for every director and PSC, and as a Companies House Authorised Corporate Service Provider we do it for you, free, in a few minutes online. If you don’t have a Companies House personal code, we get one for you. Review everything and submit.

What happens after you submit

Companies House

Your application is sent to Companies House electronically shortly after you submit it. Most companies are approved within 24 hours.

Need it today? Add Same-Day Incorporation before 12pm on a working day. If anything is rejected, we will find out why and resubmit free of charge.

Your company is incorporated

We email your Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum and Articles, share certificates and WebFiling authentication code, and store them in your Online Company Manager.

Your free .co.uk or .com domain name and any services in your package are activated at the same time.

Business banking

If you chose a business bank account, we pass your details to the bank as soon as your company is registered, and they contact you to finish the application. Some open the account in minutes. Others take up to five days or longer.

HMRC and your first deadlines

Within a few weeks of incorporation, HMRC posts your company’s Unique Taxpayer Reference to your registered office. If that’s our address, we scan and email it to you the day it arrives. You must register for Corporation Tax within three months of starting to trade, and for VAT once taxable turnover passes the threshold, or sooner if it suits you.

Two dates to put in your diary now: your first confirmation statement is due within 14 days of your company’s first anniversary, and your first accounts 21 months after incorporation.
